Hi! We are Alex and Charlotte Bear, WA-state certified nutritionists with a combined 20+ years of experience helping people achieve their wellness goals through evidence-based nutrition counseling, practical culinary skills, and supportive health coaching that make lasting change possible.
Alex, former nutritional genetics professor and Fortune 500 health coach, has dedicated his career to making healthy eating both personalized and sustainable. Charlotte, a health-supportive home-chef, Whidbey Island Grown content creator, and Slow Food Whidbey Island board member, believes true wellness starts in the kitchen and is passionate about helping people use local foods to heal their bodies.
We met in graduate school at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR while completing master’s degrees in holistic nutrition. On a spring break trip from Portland to Vancouver, BC in 2018, we bonded over a vision of empowering communities to heal together through local, wholesome foods while sharing a meal together on our friend’s homestead in Freeland.
We got married on that same farm in Freeland in 2022, moved to Whidbey soon after, and opened Whidbey Nutrition in 2024. Now, we’re honored to provide the Whidbey Island Community with free nutrition education and culinary resources via the Whidbey Nutrition website!
